Operation Fruits & Greens, Inauguration from Hon’ble Minister, Horticulture Department

Vandhe Bharatham foundation was instrumental in Bridging the gap between catastrophe and ovation of the pandemic situation through a simple way.

During the Pandemic Situation where the entire world was under lockdown, It Government was struggling to pass and implement plans for remedial measures, finding fresh fruits and vegetables can prove to be extra difficult in the situation, to offset some of that difficulty, get some of the freshest ingredients possible while helping our nation's farmers in the process through, Vandhe Bharatham Foundation proposed the Government and department of Horticulture to help the farmers in distress by deciding to market their farm produce directly to the apartment communities of Bengaluru. Where it is impossible to provide a channel to the farmers and consumers planned the simplest way through it. This Initiative is to help more number of farmers to sell fruits and vegetables especially perishable fruits directly to customers through HOPCOMS.

On 5, April, 20 state government received a positive response from the general public. Marketing seasonal fruits like watermelon, muskmelon and grapes. Hopcoms officials sold a whopping 25 tonnes of fruits on a single day. About 40 mini-trucks loaded with seasonal fruits sourced from the farmers of Kalaburagi, Chamarajanagar and Mysuru travelled in different parts of the city and marketed the fruits to the apartment dwellers. Horticulture Minister Dr Narayana Gowda had flagged off the vehicles in the morning from Lalbagh.
