Helping distressed Ashgourd farmers by selling Araga Petha sweet

Providing market for farmers’ produce during the lockdown- a ‘sweet task’. Unlike buying veggies and fruits, A challenge to provide market for Araga Petha’—a desi variety of the famous Agra ke Petha was successful.

It was very pleasure to know about Vandhe Bharatham initiative to join Ibbani to market Agrapeta ( Thirthalli Peta) to the residents of namma Bengaluru in this pandemic situation. Thirthahalli, Karnataka gets its own Agrapeta, a famous sweet usually prepared in the north. 50 Karnataka farmers who had produces around 2000 tonnes of Pumpkin were troubled as they couldn't transport their Mr Vishwantha Kantavalli , the founder of Ibbani food factory came up with a great idea to join Vandhe Bharatham.

Agra Petha—the translucent soft candy and named it after the place ‘Araga’ in Theerthahalli. Embarking on a large scale production of petha to support the distressed farmers during lock down, Vande Foundation, Ibbani Foods in marketing the new local variety of sweet that originated during the lockdown. Main Objective was to provide market to produce that was innovated to support farmers during the lock down. More than 250 farmers around Theerthahalli are in distress with the cultivation of more than 2000 tonnes of ash gourd. One kilogram of ash can yield 250 to 300 gms of Petha. It had No Preservatives added, No Chemicals, Shelf Life – 6 Months, Rich in Dieted Fibre, Vitamin B & C, Calcium, Maintaining good Blood Pressure, and 1 Kilo Ash Gourd = 250 Gms of Sweet Minimum Produce by a farmer – 10 Tons 5000 Kilo of Sweets saves 2 Farmers.

Vandhe Bharatham identified SPOC from all the Apartments/RWA’s. Collect Pre-Order for the week by Wednesday through Google forms confirms Saturday would be the delivery by which successes in all the way to help farmers
